Nikolas Jürgens (*1982) is a trained cinematographer and director (Academy of Media Arts Cologne, 2009–2015 / Escuela de Cine y Televisión Havanna, Kuba, 2012-2013). As a Director of Photography he works on both fictional films (Tatort, Netflix, ARD, WDR, among others) and documentary films for cinema and television (German Documentary Film Award). He teaches in the Master’s program for Culture, Aesthetics, and Media at the University of Applied Sciences in Düsseldorf.
Nikolas Jürgens heads Rollenfang, the platform and agency for actors with disabilities in Germany. Rollenfang connects, supports, and represents actors with disabilities and advises film productions, broadcasters, and funding bodies on inclusive filmmaking—both in front of and behind the camera. Under the motto We want to see everyone, Rollenfang advocates for greater diversity and visibility of people with disabilities in the media.
